History:
Southeast Seattle Senior Center, a non-profit senior center formerly known as Lee House, was founded in 1961. The senior center has been housed at our current location on Holly Street since 1986.

From the beginning, Lee House programs emphasized a multi-service approach to seniors living independently. This approach continues today, offering a good variety of programs and services to meet the needs of the community and hosting fun and meaningful events where the community can meet!

Today, Southeast Seattle Senior center serves over 1200 seniors annually. We offer a variety of programs and services at affordable cost to seniors young and old. Volunteers are the heart of our center - if you are looking for a way to fulfill your day, we have a place for you.

Visit our senior center to experience the rich diversity of the Rainier Valley. We welcome you at the Southeast Seattle Senior Center where active older adults gather for Fun, Fitness, Friendship, and Learning.

Activities:
You may enjoy recreation activities, arts and crafts, Bible study, western line dance classes (special classes offered for those with canes and walkers), reminiscing with our Down Memory Lane group or challenging yourself with a computer class.  Everyone enjoys our Wednesday afternoon Bingo.

Health Management:
Health Promotion programs running regularly include: Enhance Fitness, Enhance Fitness Chair Exercise, Yoga, Tai Chi, managing chronic conditions, health assessments, free mammograms for low income, blood pressure monitoring, massage therapy, foot care (works with Diabetes).

Enhance Wellness program includes a registered nurse and social worker, who perform health assessments, and host support groups, such as Diabetes Support Groups, Memory Loss, and Healthy Eating, and more.

Miscellaneous Activities/Events:
Southeast Seattle Senior Center offers a variety of ongoing and special activities. We offer van trips to new and exciting places like museums and parks, day hikes in beautiful accessible parks through Sound Steps, and casino trips every month. We also are the hosts for the Southeast Red Hatters. Every month, those members who have a birthday get a free lunch at our festive birthday lunch. They are $5 for those who don't have a birthday that month. Birthday lunches and holiday lunches are always a great time, with live entertainment, great food, and a fun theme to celebrate the special time of year.

Nutrition:
Lunches meeting 1/3 of your daily nutritional needs are served daily.   There are also special luncheon events including monthly birthday lunches, diversity celebration luncheon and volunteer appreciation luncheons.  Everyone is invited to attend and celebrate.  Also available: Meals on Wheels and Mobile Market.
